A few of my favorite things… for Eyes

I have had the pleasure to try a number of new make up products over the last few months and some of them I liked but I would not necessarily go out of my way to recommend them to someone else. On the flip side, there are a some items that I don’t know how I ever lived without them! This list of items are truly my favorite things for the eyes that I adore and would highly recommend to any of my friends and particularly you, our loyal readers.

1. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion: I have written about this product before, but its so great its worth mentioning again. This little bottle holds the key to keeping your eyeshadow in place and looking fresh all day! Plus, no creases! Simply wand it across your lids before you apply eyeshadow. Its worth the $18 and will last quite a long time. The last bottle I had for 5 months.

2. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil: This is by far the best eye pencil! Have you ever had an eye pencil that was so dry that it almost hurt trying to put it on? This glides on almost as easy as a liquid liner without the mess. Besides being easy to use, the color is vibrant and true, it stays on all day and looks fresh even after 15 hours of wear.

3. Benefit Cosmetics BADgal Lash Mascara: This is another product that I have written about before and even though I have tried a few other mascara’s lately, I still come back to the BADgal Lash mascara. In fact, I tried an Este’e Lauder mascara today and I have been irritated with flaky mascara all night while I write this. The BADgal Lash mascara has a large wand to help you create big beautiful lashes and won’t flake off by the end of the day.

Luminescent eyes… how do they do it?

Have you ever wondered how celebrities create that look with their eye make up? You know the one.. smokey eyes but a light glow along the brow line to really illuminate their eyes. Up until recently, I had tried every eye shadow under the sun to try and create that look and while it might have been close, it did not create the look Hayden Panettiere has here from the red carpet. Notice how her brow just glows and her eyes pop. How do they do that?

Well this week, I made a discovery that made me say, Ah ha!! The Cool Mama Style blog won a gift from Benefit cosmetics recently and in my quest to find something new to try on their site, I stumbled upon High Beam. Its truly amazing.. with a few dabs on your cheek bones or brow line, you will have the instant luminescent glow that all the celebrities have.

While you might think that you would only use this for evening or the red carpet, I actually added just a little to my cheekbones today before work for a little added glow. For a casual Saturday, you can also mix a little with your moisturizer for an all over glow without the fuss of a full make up application. I found High Beam to be easy to use and control. Just a little for day or a little heavier for the evening. We all want to have radiant looking skin that just glows and this is a great way to achieve the look!

Stocking Stuffers for the ladies

We all love our little things, don’t we? My love of stocking stuffers goes way back to my childhood, when I thought I was done opening presents, until I realized…OH! We still have our stockings! YAY!

It’s time to check out some of our recommendations for the ladies in your life! Women out there, show this to your man for some ideas–I am doing the same thing.

I hate to use the word need, but I NEED this “Glitz, Glam & Gloss ” kit by Benefit Cosmetics in my stocking, available on sephora.com. For a lean $26, it packs a punch. This gloss lovers kit has six different mini glosses in cute versatile shades. They would look nice on many skin tones, so try these out for several people!

I also recommend these cool handbag hangers from Spring Street Design Group at Nordstrom.com! I really wish I thought of this winning innovation! No more putting your beloved bag on a dirty floor at a restaurant or lounge or on the back of your chair (where I personally had a bag stolen once!). Hang this on a table and your bag is right under the table at arms’ reach! They come in many designs, but this flower is one of my favorites! Not only adorable, but practical! It’s for ANY woman who carries a bag–your mom, sister, friend, your kids’ teacher, ANYONE! How great!

I love multitasking items, which this little treat does. It’s a key chain that has the DKNY Be Delicious fragrance in a solid perfume inside, availble on sephora.com. It’s functional because you’ll always have a great scent at your fingertips but also a cute keychain.

For the lovers of heels, (like me) but also can’t stand the pain after a while…these adorable ballet flats fold up to fit in your smallest evening bag, even in a clutch! We all need some of these Yosi Samra shoes! They come in several different colors, so pick one that will be versatile for every look! I love metallics for maximum versatility.
